“Forth Sewage Pollution a Catastrophe for Public Health and PFI Projects”

Bill Walker“The recent major liquid raw sewage discharge into the Forth of Forth is a major disaster for peoples’ health along the Fife coastline and beyond”, said William G Walker, local SNP Council Candidate for West Fife and Coastal Villages on Monday evening.

“The effects of the recent huge discharges of raw sewage from Edinburgh’s Seafield Treatment Works over the last four days will be felt for months. This could include along Fife’s coastal villages from Kincardine to Limekilns, depending on tides and winds.

“Scottish Futures Trust a Better Deal for Fifers than the Present Costly PFI/PPP System,”

Bill Walker“I am pleased to be campaigning across West Fife and Coastal Villages to introduce a Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) as an alternative the very expensive PFI/PPP arrangements currently being used to finance the building and running of new schools, hospitals etc”. So said William G Walker, local SNP Council Candidate at last night’s SNP ward meeting.

“The Tories introduced PFI and Labour continued with ‘son of PFI’, the PPP. After 3rd May, current contracts will be unaffected but it will be for the newly elected Fife Council and other public bodies to choose between the two systems of funding for planned and future projects. Under SFT, The SNP will match current plans for improvements to our schools and hospitals ‘brick for brick’.

“Town Centre a Disgrace,” says SNP’s Len Woods

Len WoodsLen Woods, speaking at a weekend constituency meeting, made a scathing attack on Fife Council and the Scottish Executive over the New Town Centre. He said: “We have endured 20 years of neglect and ineptitude over this. In addition, insult is added to injury when no details are issued until recently and then only an artist’s impression. Why were no 3D models made available for public inspection? What type of Debenham’s store can we expect?
